about
The chorus to this one came to me while I was on the toilet. At work. I hope that it doesn't mean that my company owns the song. Anyway, I knew from the start that this one would be a tribute to one of my favorite pop-punk bands, Motion City Soundtrack. (Note the lead synth part, for one.)
lyrics
[Verse1]
No one ever has a problem with John
He is always on time
He does his best to blend in with the crowd
He's institutionalized
It started back in elementary school.
Bullies laughed when he walked.
He started trying to normalize
Himself, even the way that he talked
[Chorus]
(Oh just keep me insane)
I don't wanna be normal
Cause normal is boring, and boring is lame
There's enough normal people
I'd rather be quirky and slightly insane
[Verse2]
Yea, no one's ever had a problem with John
Since elementary school
He shops at gap, drinks bud light on tap; he's a sap
But always tries to act cool
He works hard.
He mows the yard.
He cleans his car.
Every saturday!
He follows trends
Never offends
He sees his friends
Every 6 months.
[goto Chorus]
I got a visit from the ghost of Corporate future
He said that I'm becoming just like John
No one's ever had a problem with him
Except me, except me, except me
[Break it down now]
[goto Chorus]
[Verse3]
Yea, no one's ever had a problem with John
Except me
